The Tales of Hamad: an Emirati Boy

Hamad is a 10 year old Emirati boy. He is curious, fun and respectful. He lives with his loving parents and younger sister. In this book series Hamad goes on a journey of discovery of himself, his heritage and everything around him. Each story will see Hamad going on a fun new adventure where he learns a valuable and educational lesson. The subject themes of the stories will vary widely to appeal to different tastes while always being appropriate for this age group and this culture. The topics will include universal issues dealt with an Emirati flavor such as National Day, Eid, bullying, fishing, nightmares, etc. The main distinction will be that all these stories will be set in an authentic Emirati environment with special emphasis placed on preserving Emirati identity, culture and heritage.

Eid Road Trip:
Hamad receives the best gift.

​Hamad and his parents plan to celebrate Eid with his grandparents in Al Ain. Hamad is full of excitement and cannot wait to reach his grandparents’ house to get his Eid gift from them. Disappointment sets in when the car breaks down and Hamad realizes that they might not reach Al Ain on time to get his Eid gift. It is through this frustrating time that Hamad learns the real meaning of Eid and receives his best gift yet.

The Ghosts of Gergi’an:
Hamad meets Umm Al Sa'af and Hamar Al Gaylah

Hamad and his friends go 'trick or treating' during the local festivities of 'Gergi'an'. Not only do they stay out late and miss their curfew but they also wander off to the outskirts of town. Alone and in the dark the children are confronted with the mythical creature 'Umm Al Sa'af'. The creature agrees to let them go unharmed if they make her one promise. 

The Ghoul and the Phoenix:
Hamad has a Nightmare

​Hamad wakes up from a nightmare scared and worried. His recurring nightmare involves a monster named "Ghoul of Failure" who threatens to run after Hamad and never let him succeed. Hamad's mother teaches him how to overcome his fear of this monster by introducing him to the "Phoenix of Positivity".
